Newly patented by Cosentino, N-Boost is the latest notable advancement in Silestone quartz surfacing using innovative nanotechnology. N-Boost modifies the surface of the material at a molecular level, further enhancing its technical performance and aesthetic properties. This state-of-the-art technology ensures a greater intensity of colour and lustre while also providing a surface that is easier to clean and maintain than ever before.
Silestone’s N-Boost brings a competitive edge to the surface market. While other manufacturers apply a sealant layer to surface materials, which often requires re-application, N-Boost technology is built right into the Silestone surface and lasts forever. The molecular fusion produces bonds within the stone creating a built-in seal that will never fade or degrade. Its advanced technology improves the functionality, quality and beauty of the surface. This includes an incredible water repellent property, creating an extraordinary level of stain resistance. Another quality of this new technology is that it doesn’t alter or affect the other mechanical properties of Silestone, including its high resistance to impact and scratching, availability in large and customized sizes, and versatility for any home design application.

The International EPD® System recently awarded the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certificate to the Cosentino Group for the ultracompact Dekton line. This is the second accreditation Cosentino has achieved, after becoming the first company in the quartz surfaces industry to obtain this certificate back in 2011 for Silestone’s ECO line.

The International EPD System was awarded to Cosentino based on the company’s policy of maximum commitment to sustainability, and its involvement in improving efficiency in the consumption of raw materials and energy, reducing the generation of waste.
Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) is a technique used to evaluate the environmental impacts related to all stages of a product’s life including production in the industrial plant, transport, installation, use and end of life. Dekton was assessed during 2015 at all stages of its life cycle. During this time, the LCA allowed improvements to be made to the surface material and a series of indicators to allow simple and easy monitoring of Dekton‘s environmental status. These indicators pay special attention to greenhouse gas emissions, efficiency in the consumption of raw materials and energy, and the reduction in waste generated.
This certification is a significant accomplishment for Cosentino as it provides sustainability transparency for the Dekton product line. It demonstrates the reduction of negative impact on the environment and provides important information when comparing similar products within the same industry. It also positions Dekton as an optimal choice for LEED property development based on its sustainability and high-efficiency criteria.
According to the Canada Green Building Council, Canada has the second highest number of LEED projects in the world with over 2,800 LEED certified buildings in the country. Canadian architects and builders are looking for products that not only contribute to beautiful design but also uphold sustainability standards. Dekton’s EPD certification positions the brand as an ideal choice among other industry products when it comes to Canadian property developers who are looking for environmentally conscious products.

Silestone officially introduced its new Eternal Collection in Canada last month during the Interior Design Show in Toronto. Featured in Cosentino’s award-winning booth designed by internationally acclaimed Canadian design firm, Cecconi Simone, the new collection was brought to life through the exhibit’s contemporary applications including a display wall, cladding and a floor to ceiling fireplace surround. The Eternal Collection was well received by IDS attendees, as an ideal alternative to natural stone.
Cindy Crawford, supermodel and international fashion icon, will soon become the new global brand ambassador for Silestone®.
The world-famous supermodel and the brand have joined forces to represent the very best in beauty, fashion and design in an advertising campaign entitled “Tops On Top”, which will be released from March onwards in major lifestyle, trend, fashion, design, decoration and architecture magazines. As part of her ambassadorship, Crawford will also take part in North American promotional events.
“I have a tremendous passion for design, and I’m thrilled to partner with Silestone®, whose surfacing materials bring a distinctive element to the fashion ensembles we create for our home,” said Crawford during the photo shoot for the campaign, which took place in December in Los Angeles, USA.
This partnership will take the global positioning of the Silestone® brand one step further, building on its already consolidated position as a leading edge decorative surface in design and architecture. It also reinforces the brand’s connection with the lifestyle world, and follows previous collaborations such as those with Andrés Velencoso, Goya Toledo or Paz Vega, among others.
The campaign “Tops On Top” will feature Cindy Crawford alongside the Silestone® Eternal colour collection, paying homage to natural stone and evoking the infinite, timeless and eternal beauty that can only be found in nature.

When popular designers and media personalities Glen Peloso and Jamie Alexander co-founded their Toronto-based design firm, Peloso Alexander Interiors, they combined nearly 40 years of commercial, residential and hospitality design experience. Their unique individual tastes combined with their passion for interior design has allowed them to create beautiful spaces for their clients. We recently sat down with Glen and Jamie to discuss one of their latest projects, a sleek and modern kitchen redesign.
1: Can you tell us a bit about your vision for this kitchen?
This kitchen was conceived as a food lovers space in an entertainment focused home. The island includes appliances and countertops featuring an inset cutting board over the induction cooktop. Really, everyone can enjoy a meal at this counter. It could also be set up as a great buffet spread for larger groups. Entertaining and taking good care of guests is paramount with a built-in coffee maker, steam oven and a gas cook top with an oven underneath. The beautiful line of the countertop is uninterrupted in the view from the adjoining rooms.
2: What colour did you decide to use for the cascading island countertop?
We used Silestone’s White Arabesque for the island countertop because of its antimicrobial properties. The surface provides the perfect contrast to the cabinets, while still playing with the colour because of the black graining.
3: What is your favourite feature of this room?
We love the cascaded countertop with the inset walnut cutting board as part of the island. We were also very happy with the backsplash because it speaks to the traditional subway tile we are all familiar with. The oversized and bevel detail of the tile provides a simple interest while working beautifully with the countertop colour and style.
4: Finally, what is your top advice to your clients to create a ‘happier home’?
The secret to a happy home is really a happy plan. Understand what your needs are and let a professional guide you through the process. Make sure you use products that don’t require a great deal of maintenance while providing you with as much beauty and function as possible. Designing a space that suits you, your lifestyle and your home will support you, versus needing to adapt to the limitations of your home.
